Mary and Fred sat on their porch, wrinkled lips sipping their coffee.
"It’s a few minutes late," suggested Fred. Mary waved a hand.
"It’s coming."
He took a sip, eyeing their garden. "There it goes," Mary said, pointing. Sure enough, a plip-plip-plip sounded beyond the deck. Squinting, Fred realized she was right. Within seconds, a waterfall of rainbow guppies fell from the sky, flopping on the ground in wiggly piles. Fred folded his arms, lip jutting out.
"'Course. Last Monday we had tilapia. Tuesday, bottom feeders."
"Now, Fred—"
"Wednesday-Thursday-Friday and it’s nothin’ but minnows, millets and guppies. Bah."
"Oh, now," Mary chided. "You’ll get that your salmon one of these days."
"Eh," he grunted, waving a hand. "You only say that ‘cause you got your tilapia."
